About

The Islamic Center of South Carolina (Masjid Al-Salaam), was started in 2005 when just a few brothers and their families in the late 90’s decided on establishing a permanent place to pray and worship within Rock Hill. Between that time several buildings were leased around the city for a number of years to hold Juma (Friday) prayers. A final location was selected to be the current Mosque in 2010 and was eventually constructed in 2013 which allowed for the accommodation of the larger, growing local Muslim population of Rock Hill and surrounding areas. The members then focused on setting the main goal of the Mosque in addition to worship, to be the call to Dawah or inviting people to Islam. To date this goal continues and holds true as each year there are several individuals who choose to take the Shahadah (acceptance of Islam). Prior and after opening the Mosque on September 20, 2013, the Mosque and it’s members have been featured in the local newspaper, The Herald on numerous occasions.
